Clever Clogs Academy is Mat and Alicia. Between us we have over 20 years’ experience in primary education, and we teach every session ourselves — there are no other tutors, and there is no one your child will meet who you have not met first.

Extensive primary teaching experience and the Key Stage Two Manager for a leading educational publisher.
The same four things shape every session, whether it is 11+ or Key Stage 2.
Every question type gets a method taught explicitly, then practised until it is automatic. Papers come after that, to test whether the method holds under time.
Sessions of four or more are taught by both of us, so the ratio is three pupils to a teacher and a child can hear a method explained two ways in one lesson.
Written feedback after every session saying what your child worked on, what went well and what to practise. No waiting until the end of term to find out.
Coloured overlays, a different font, extra processing time, shorter tasks with more breaks, a question read aloud. These go into the plan rather than being added on request. Tell either of us what helps your child and we build it in.
Lessons happen in a room in our home in Winslow, around one table, with the garden through the doors and everything a child needs within reach. It is deliberately not a classroom and not a hall — a child who has already done a full day at school arrives somewhere calm rather than somewhere that feels like more school.

… and many more besides.
Checkable facts rather than claims about quality. More detail is on our safeguarding page.
Both of us are qualified teachers with classroom experience, not tutors who have moved into teaching from another field.
Both of us hold an enhanced DBS certificate dated within the last 12 months, or held on the Update Service. You are welcome to ask to see them at your introductory session.
Both of us hold current paediatric first aid training.
Individual Members for 2026–27, which means working to the Association’s professional standards and code of ethics.
We work to the statutory guidance Keeping Children Safe in Education, and take regular safeguarding and Prevent training so we recognise the signs of abuse or neglect and know what to do about them.
Two families answered our questions this year.
“We liked the homely approach that is offered, and knowing the background credentials of Mat and Alicia working within education.”
“You answered all of my questions and dispelled any doubt I had about tuition.”
A free 30-minute introductory session, in the room in Winslow or online. Nothing to pay and no obligation either way.
